  Brewer Trip Planned...
The Board of Parish Organizations is exploring the idea of a "Brewer Bus Trip." Before we plan, we want to determine interest and/or cost limits. If this is something you maybe interested in please contact Roger Hallberg at 920-775-3942, or email: rwhallberg@tds.net. Be prepared to answer a couple of questions regarding how much you would be willing to pay for tickets & bus ride, as well as weekend or weeknight game preference. Ticket information can be found at http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com

UPCOMING EVENTS:

The Youth and Family Sledding Event for Saturday, February 4 has been CANCELLED due to lack of snow.  No plans are being made to rescheduled.

Kairos Next Step - Mark your Calendar!

A Special Congregational Meeting is scheduled on Sunday, February 19  at 9:15 AM to vote on the Board of Directors' recommendation to move forward with a capital campaign in 2012.

For those who missed  Pastor Jeff Kjellberg's report last Sunday, the video will be shown on Wednesday, February 1st. Copies of that video are available in the Library, and a summary on paper in the Outer Narthex.

The Annual Sunday School Penny War to benefit Crossways Camps begins Sunday.  We will be doing it a little differently this year.  Instead of the classes competing against each other, we will be working together to obtain a common goal.  When we reach our goal ($800) Pastor Jim will paint his hair pink!

Super/Souper Bowl Sunday is February 5.  Approximately 100 million Americans are expected to tune in to watch.  As many are enjoying abundant food and friendship while hosting or attending parties, approximately 1 billion people will be hungry.

All of us at Faith have an opportunity to financially assist the hungry in our area.  There will be a receptacle in the outer narthex for you to place your donations.

Have you ever:

wanted to get a grasp of the history and events of the Old Testament?

felt like you don’t get what the Old Testament is about?

wondered what the  Old Testament has to do with our New Testament Faith?

If so, the Old Testament Overview is for you! We will review the themes and threads of the Old Testament in eight sessions. There will be minimal homework, lots of good information and the promise of lively discussion. It will provide a good foundation upon which you can build a grasp of the history of the Old Testament and have a greater appreciation for the New Testament. It would also be a good introduction to Bethel. The introduction to the Gospels – what I call “Pictures of Jesus” – will be offered in the fall and the New Testament Overview next spring.

Sound interesting? The class will start February 9th/12th and run for eight sessions, so we’ll be done before Holy Week. Come and join in on the fun and study!

Crossway’s Summer Camp information is now available in the outer narthex by the guest registry.  There are individual programs for grades 1-12, adults, and programs for families of ALL shapes, sizes, and definitions.  Take a brochure and discover great summer adventure opportunities for your entire family.  Remember there is no better investment in your children’s faith development than a week at Bible Camp!

Find additional program information and online registration at www.CrosswayCamps.org.

Faith's Pantry is open the 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:00-11:00 a.m. serving people within a 10 mile radius of Valders.  If you are in need, please stop in and we can help you.

PJ's Reflections

December 26, 2011

Our festival celebrations of the brith of our Lord are behind us - but the Season of Christmas continues for 12 days! When we return to our regular worship schedule on Sunday - New Year's Day - sermons will look a bit different. I will be using what some call the "Teaching - Preaching" method. What this means is you will hear a 2 - 3 minute teaching time on each of the appointed texts for the week, followed by a brief message applying them to our lives. It will be a great way to not only learn more about the Bible and be engaged with two or three of assigned readings, instead of just the Gospel. come and check it out!

See you in Church!

Pastor Jim
