Psalm 104:24-34, 35b
How manifold are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
25Yonder is the sea, great and wide, with its swarms too many to number, living things both small and great.
26There go the ships to and fro, and Leviathan, which you made for the sport of it.
27All of them look to you to give them their food in due season.
28You give it to them; they gather it; you open your hand, and they are filled with good things.
29When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
30You send forth your Spirit, and they are created; and so you renew the face of the earth.
31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; O LORD, rejoice in all your works.
32You look at the earth and it trembles; you touch the mountains and they smoke.
33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will praise my God while I have my being.
34May these words of mine please God. I will rejoice in the LORD.
35Bless the LORD, O my soul. Hallelujah!

Today's festival derives its name from the Jewish festival of Pentecost, observed fifty days after Passover. On the fiftieth day of Easter we celebrate the Holy Spirit as the power of God among us that heals, forgives, inspires, and unites. In the reading from Acts, images of wind and fire describe the Spirit poured out on disciples of all nations. In John's gospel the risen Christ breathes the Spirit on his followers on Easter evening. In the one Spirit we are baptized into one body, and at the Lord's table the Spirit unites us for witness in the world.

Bishop James Justman will be here for service on Wednesday, May 14 and will stay after service to answer any questions that you may have concerning the call process for Faith. Plan on attending.

It’s that time of year again! Time for burgers and brats on the grill! On Sunday, May 18, a group of high school students, along with their parents, will be holding a brat fry/ car wash/ bake sale to help raise money for a mission trip they will be taking in July. Twelve students, along with 2 chaperones, will be traveling to Taylorsville, NC in the Smokey Mountains. While there, the youth will spend time repairing homes and working with young children in the area to help spread God’s word and love. Brats and burgers will be for sale beginning after the first service on both the upper and lower levels. The car wash, held in the lower parking lot will be a free will donation, as will the baked goods. All proceeds from this fund raiser will help with the costs of the week long trip. Matching funds will also be made through Thrivent.

THANKS TO THE BLOOD DONORS! Thank you for taking the time to donate blood on Monday, May 5. We had a good turnout and are very grateful for you taking the time to make this very important donation. The next Blood Drive at Faith will be December 1. Mar your calendars.
